National Civil Rights Museum (Lorraine Motel)

Memphis motel where MLK Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968 — now a museum walking visitors through the entire Black freedom struggle.

The exterior of Room 306 is preserved exactly as it was in 1968. The museum extends across the street into the boarding house from which James Earl Ray fired the shot, ending with a meditation room where King's death is reckoned with as an unresolved national wound.
