Born in Atlanta in 1929 and assassinated in Memphis in 1968. King pastored Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery during the bus boycott, co-founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and led the marches from Birmingham to Selma to Memphis that forced the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts into law.
