Build sponsors, not just mentors
Mentors give advice. Sponsors spend their reputation on you. Find at least one senior Black or person-of-color sponsor inside the org and one outside it.

70% of your time on current job mastery. 20% on stretch projects with the next level of leadership. 10% on networking and visibility (speaking, writing, conferences).
Know your alternatives
Quietly interview elsewhere every 12 months. Your willingness to leave is the strongest leverage you have. Stay if you love the work and the comp matches the market.
