Plan a Black History Pilgrimage Through Mississippi

A four-day Mississippi Delta route covering Money, Mound Bayou, and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.

Day 1 — Jackson

Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and Two Mississippi Museums campus. Pair with dinner at Big Apple Inn for pig-ear sandwiches in the historic Farish Street district.

Day 2 — Money + Sumner

Visit the Bryant's Grocery ruins in Money. Drive to Sumner for the Emmett Till Interpretive Center, which curates the trial sites.

Day 3 — Mound Bayou + Cleveland

Tour Mound Bayou, the all-Black town founded by formerly enslaved people in 1887. Stop at the GRAMMY Museum Mississippi in Cleveland for blues history.

Day 4 — Tougaloo

Tougaloo College historic campus. Touring guide available through the Tougaloo Civil Rights Heritage Project.
